Hektor

Hektor is the nickname of this diesel locomotive in Slovakia and Czech republic. I took lot of reference pictures during my last visit of my hometown’s train station of Hlinik nad Hronom. I worked on this environment several months in my freetime. Dedicated to my little son and my wife.

All models were done in 3dsmax as Editable poly geometry. Main challenge was to create nice looking vegetation. To achieve this kind of vegetation I used several tools such as hand modeled grass strands scattered with Advanced Painter script, Onyx tree to create bushes and then I modified them with noise modifiers and I scattered small objects on them to create more irregular sctrutcure. I rendered this project in Vray. Final render was rendered in 6000x2814px. All rendering was done on my old Dell Inspiron9400 with 2Gbs of Ram only. Rendertime was about 15 hours for this high resolution. Textures and postproduction process were done in Photoshop. Scroll down to see high res crops. Enjoy!
